Weekend in Arran

I’m no long back from a weekend away in Arran. I was there for a wedding, but it was also good to just enjoy a bit of what the island has to offer on my own.

This morning I took a walk along the shore from Brodick, round the bay to Brodick Castle (and stood where King Edward and Queen Alexandra stood on their very first visit to Scotland in 1902. That made my day, I can tell you! )

I grew up in a seaside town until I was almost 10, when we moved to a dull Glasgow suburb. Although consciously I don’t miss the sea so much, subconsciously I must miss it terribly, as I’m always powerfully moved by the sight of a Scottish shore. There’s something special in it for me.

Here are some photos I took this morning. I haven’t selected them for quality, so there’s one that’s a bit blurred, and pretty much all the photos I took into the Sun came out too dark. I knew I should have adjusted the exposure to take the Sun into account, but I was too lazy. Maybe I will have a go at manually brightening them. I should really get round to titling them also, but as a lot of them are pretty similar, it’d be a hard job. Maybe I’ll let them just stand for themselves.

Each photo has a number (from 0 to 41, I think.) Please let me know of any you particularly like, or if you have any other comments.

Thanks. (F)

I just couldn’t help myself!

Despite feeling tired, run down, and having spent most of the evening with my parents, I just couldn’t help myself going up the road to the GUU for the freestyle after the class tonight.

Jiving at JJ’s

A quick wee posting for a great night at JJ’s…

I haven’t been dancing much lately, what with one thing or another, so my dancing was a bit rusty on Saturday night, but things were much better tonight.

Mad Hot Ballroom

I went to see a preview of “Mad Hot Ballroom” this morning. Our Salsa teacher had been given a load of tickets and gave them to any of her students who were interested.

Put frankly, you’d have to be keen to get up on a cold Sunday morning to go see a documentary about a bunch of kids learning to dance.

At JJ’s with an eye to dancing…

Just back from JJ’s. Only went along for the freestyle as I’m feeling pretty awful, but needed to get out of the house where I was also feeling miserable.
