Glasgow Farce

Tonight was the monthly Glasgow party…

Let’s see…

Great venue…. Check! (Y)

Cool teacher down from Aberdeen…. Check! (Y)

Top DJ flown up from London… Check! (Y)

Loads of dancers from all over Scotland and elsewhere… Check! (Y)

So what we missing here…

Ah… Sound system… Umm… :shake:

What do you mean no sound system??!?!

I’m deeply unimpressed. Makes me wish I had gone to the LeRoc party last weekend.

Fortunately it wasn’t a complete disaster, as many of us headed up to our usual Tuesday-night class venue, Jumpin’ Jacks.

Unfortunately not everyone knew this, and others had a problem due to a lack of ID or sufficient years to be allowed in. Some folks affected by this headed off to a party in Paisley, but it wasn’t a MJ event, and so there would have been many people to dance with.

Back at JJ’s… It was weird being there but not having a Ceroc class on. When I arrived the floor only had Ceroc dancers and I can only imagine what the other folks thought about what they saw… You could tell the club was worried too as they tried to hem us in to make space for the other punters, and eventually there wasn’t really enough space to dance properly for all the handbag boppers getting in the way.

It was funny though watching some of them trying to imitate what they saw, to varying degrees of success. It’d have made a good busk if we had had flyers to give out.

I didn’t stay long, as I wasn’t in the mood to try solo dancing to Queen, and as I’m planning to be up early-ish tomorrow, I figured I could get an early night.

So, that’s it!

Really sorry that I didn’t get to see and dance with lots of folks I’d wanted to. Thanks to those that I did dance with. (F)

Finally I want to say a big, big good-bye to Danielle; this is her last night in Scotland before she moves back to Northern Ireland. It’s a shame the night was partly spoilt for her, but she was making the best of it. Anyway, I’ll miss you. Hope to see you again soon. (F) (K) (L) (F) (K) (L) (F) (K) (L)
