I went to a birthday party dance last night. I had really good time too, though I didn’t feel I was dancing very well.

I got to experience a birthday dance from the outside of the circle, which was fun, though it was my first dance of the night, so I was a bit rusty. I guess I felt better later on, once I had warmed up a bit, though I never really felt “in the zone”.

I got to watch a fair bit of the dancing, where as well as the standard MJ, we had a few jivers (though I don’t think I really saw them in action), some line dancing which looked like fun, and a few couples doing West Coast Swing… I’ve been a bit down on WCS on my blog in the past, but the WCS dancing I watched last night looked really good – maybe it’s just something that needs to grow on me…

Beyond just the dancing, it was a good party – good crowd, the food was great – just what I needed as I didn’t manage to eat much before the party. The birthday cake was really yummy too.

The birthday girl was looking lovely, and I’m sorry I didn’t manage to get a proper dance with her (just my 10 seconds of a birthday dance.) Will have to rectify this sometime this week hopefully!

So, big thanks to her and her parents for throwing a great party, and thanks to all the folks there who make it a good night.

Maybe I should arrange a birthday dance for my birthday next time around…
