Stirling Tea Dance
Went to my first tea dance in Stirling yesterday – part of the new format “Focus On…” workshop and “Smooth Grooves” freestyle, now in the afternoon.
The new time is so much better – I didn’t manage to get to the workshop, but getting to Stirling for half 3 for the dance is easy. And the best thing is I can stay to the end without having to worry about how I’m getting home.
As it happened, I got a lift home (thanks Peter!), but I could have easily got the train home too.
The dance lasted 3 hours – the time rushed by. There were lots of really good dancers there to keep me wanting to dance, plus a few promising beginners who were equally a pleasure to dance with.
The cake was yummy, the company from all over Scotland – and Australia – and Florida – was good, the music and dancing divine… (Though I thought the music maybe a little more swingy than typical.)
Of special note was the visitor from Florida – a lovely girl who back home dances mainly Lindy Hop. I was impressed by her dancing and how quickly she’s managed to adapt to Modern Jive since she arrived in this country on Thursday. Oh, and the fact that she’s drop-dead gorgeous might also have been a small factor in my enjoyment of our dances… (I don’t think I was the only one who noticed this about her though…
)
Shame that I won’t have another chance to dance with her during her visit to this country. Oh well…
This was my first time dancing since Tuesday, and I felt a bit rusty early on (despite having a really great first dance) but as I danced some more, I felt better about my dancing – more experimental, more inspired…
Definitely worth the visit. Can’t wait ’til the next one!
Cheers!
