JJ’s after Southport
Went to JJ’s tonight for the freestyle. I’m still pretty exhausted after Southport, and I didn’t think I could manage a full night. Lots of other people were missing too.
But I had such a good time over the weekend I just wanted to keep dancing!
So I turned up about 9… The intermediate class was still on (one of these days I’m going to figure out when this starts and finishes) and I got to see the routine. Disappointed that I missed being taught the half-windmill, as it used to be a beginner’s move and is on my beginners’ DVD… I’ve never been taught it though in the year and a bit I’ve been dancing. I think I’ll live though…
On the forum, and in real life a lot of people have told me that I’ll have “post-weekender blues” for a week or so after Southport. The reason put forward for this is that after the high of dancing with so many great dancers at Southport, it’ll be such a come-down to be dancing with regular folks.
Well - at least for me – that’s rubbish. I danced with loads of folks who weren’t at Southport of varying standard… I didn’t have a bad dance all night. Loved every minute of it.
I got to show off some of my new moves I’d discovered over the weekend, and hopefully demonstrate some improvement in my dancing. I’m told the main difference is that my lead is stronger than before. Didn’t notice this in myself, but then I wasn’t leading me…
Also had a go at developing the guy’s version of my cool new lady comb move and got to demonstrate them to the King of Combs (guess who). All cool stuff.
So, I had a really great time, and feel really good about my dancing at the moment…
Don’t feel so good in my knee though…
Oh well, maybe I’ll give it a rest tomorrow night…
Cheers guys!
