Edinburgh Party
Just back from the Edinburgh party… Quite a good night…
It seemed quieter than normal – maybe folks had heard I was coming through – though I did try to keep it quiet just in case a lynch mob was organised after the last time I mentioned Edinburgh on my blog…
Edinburgh really does have many lovely dancers… My memory of Edinburgh is scared from some of my early visits to parties there where I met girls who were a touch “tipsy”, couldn’t follow, or held me in a death grip. Either these people have disappeared, got better, or I’ve just got better at avoiding them.
One thing I’ve noticed about Edinburgh, is that I get asked to dance more than I do in Glasgow. I’ve got some theories as to why this is, but I’ll hold back at the moment and ask for suggests – please add a comment if you have any ideas.
A few moments tonight stand out tonight…
- A triumph of musicality from one of my favourite partners doing a double spin to hit the timing of the music perfectly. A small thing, you’d think, but it felt so perfect. Had lots of other lovely moments of musical harmony through the night.
- Receiving two nasty scratches on my right arm from someone… I only noticed them later, but they are stinging a bit even now.. Other injures include getting bashed in the face (twice) by an elbow, but that was my fault, and was from one of my favourite dancers, so it was OK…
- Dancing with a girl who I hadn’t seen in a month or two, and remembering why she is my favourite, favourite person to dance with.
- Being told I had finally become a dancer – i.e. someone who dances, rather than someone who does moves…
That last one is certainly a compliment, but it does put previous compliments into perspective…
So a good night in Edinburgh… Good dancers, good dances, good company.
Better get to my bed now, as I’m going dancing again tomorrow!
Thanks for the dances! See you all soon, I hope.
