At JJ’s tonight… This is going to be a quick post (I hope…)

We had a guest teacher and DJ tonight – thought she did well, though I didn’t do either class again, spending time instead with my partner. As for the music… I quite liked a lot of it, but there was also a lot of stuff I wasn’t familiar with, or wasn’t so much to my taste.

Overall it wasn’t a great night for me. This probably colours my perception of things. Although I had some great dances with some favourite dancers, a lot of the time I felt a bit distracted and couldn’t concentrate of my dancing. As a consequence both my, and (I imagine) my partners’, enjoyment of these distracted dances was diminished.

Not really sure what was distracting me though…

Still, I think I enjoyed all my dances, and with those few dancers that I can really gel with, I had some fab dances, so it wasn’t such a bad night…

Practice with my partner is going slowly, but I think we’re improving. We had a wee go at recording ourselves dancing back on Friday, and then watched and dissected our dancing on Saturday before we went to the Edinburgh party. It was a useful exercise, but I’m not sure if we are the right people to work out what things we’re doing wrong, and, even more so, how to fix them!

Still having fun though, and that’s the main thing.
