Stirling Workshop and Tea Dance
After a tiring Saturday, what better thing to do on Sunday but go dancing!?
so I went with a few friends up to Stirling for the workshop and dance.
Workshop was on side-steps and lunges. Some good stuff. A big emphasis on giving a clear lead. I can’t say I often lead my partner into side steps, but I think if I ever do, I’ll have a better clue on how to lead it. The main point was (for me) that to change direction or do something different mid-step required a slight lift of your partner to step her stepping or weight-changing before you’d led the movement. Similar techniques applied to doing lunges. Good stuff.
On with the dance… In contrast to Edinburgh the night before, I can’t think of any bad music or bad dances. Had a fab time.
One dancer who I don’t think I’ve danced with very often if ever, told me I had (and I hope my memory is working right) a “very individualistic style”. Certainly we were having a few difficulties adjusting to each others’ style… Anyway, I’ll take it as a compliment.
We got stuff in a traffic jam on the way home after, so to while away the time we enjoyed a fun game of “I Spy”. That was a really great laugh. Never seen so many lamas on the M80…
A good day – hope I’ll be able to go to the next one which is the day after the Musselburgh competition, but I expect I’ll be shattered. Though based on the experience of this weekend, maybe some Smooth Grooves on a Sunday afternoon will be exactly what I need.
Thanks to everyone for a great time.

I would have loved to make it to the Workshop and Tea Dance but I’ve been roped into a team cabaret so I was at that instead (plus I should probably be resting my ankle still :s ). Sounds like a really useful workshop!
