Yep, I’m still alive!

February wasn’t a good month for me, and nor was the start of March, but things are all good now.

At the start of February I went to Southport, got ill, and never really recovered… One illness followed another, most recently I’m just about over a cold which was the least of my maladies over the last half dozen weeks or so…

Between bouts of illness I did make it to Aberdeen for the Beach Ballroom, where I over-did it a bit, and to the Glasgow party, where, again, I probably danced too much.

I did enjoy them both though, and Southport (except the part where I sat in my chalet all Sunday night in pain, feeling sorry for myself while everyone else was enjoying themselves. (That said, quite a few other people weren’t well over the weekend, so I wasn’t really alone in my plight.))

Anyway, tonight I was back at JJ’s for the first time in weeks – 7 or 8, I think.

Did my usual hotshot thing and arrived well after the classes had finished. (Well, I didn’t want to over-do it the first night back!)

I was glad to make it back tonight though, to get the chance to hear the “new” Thursday night DJ who was filling in.

So how did she do? Pretty good, I’d say. She made the night her own, while still managing to play lots of songs that would appeal to the Tuesday night regulars. My only advice would be not to listen to music recommendations from a certain teacher.

I was a bit apprehensive about going back to JJ’s and finding a changed crowd – and sure enough, lots of my favourites were missing, but I still managed to get plenty of good dances. I had three dances in a row with one of my favourite, favourite dancers which really helped make the night a success for me.

Found myself struggling a little though with followers I wasn’t so familiar with (or probably more accurately, who weren’t very familiar with me.) Not sure what to do about this, if anything…

Anyway, it was a good night, I’m glad I went, as I had a much better time than I thought I would.
